Christmas is a busy time for all of us but especially our hard working postal staff. I popped in for an early morning visit to the Royal Mail sorting office in Pershore and met my local postie Paul, who has now changed from wearing shorts into long trousers signifying the beginning of winter.
It was a very interesting visit and much has changed since I took on a Christmas sorting job many moons ago when a student.

I also recently was invited to take a tour around Walsh Mushrooms based on Vale Park, Evesham to open an extension to their mushroom production company.

No-one had warned us that these buildings are kept very cool by chillers as would have worn something warmer! Nevertheless it was fascinating to learn the history of the company starting as a family business in Ireland and of the potential for the Super Mushroom, which should be able to provide most of the Vitamin D currently lacking in a huge number of the population – due it is thought to the prevalent use of sun block. Clinical trials are underway and it is hoped to have these ready for sale in about 12 months.
Later on we had lunch featuring – yes you’ve guessed – mushrooms! Quite delicious.
I was also delighted to present prizes to the winners of the 2015 Wychavon Parish Games held in Lower Moor Village Hall.

The games included bell boating, cross country, petanque, angling and many others not forgetting darts, both ladies and mens. A good way of keeping fit and keeping communities alive and kicking.
In recent weeks I have also held my charity craft fair at the Civic Centre in aid of my charities: Dementia UK and Worcstershire Wildlife Trust. This was held with the assistance of many offers of donations from local shops, individuals and companies not to mention the donation of the musical talent of Cannery Row providing entertainment during the morning.

I also attended the switching on of Droitwich Christmas lights which in spite of the weather was a very well attended event both in the centre of town and in St. Andrews Church providing a range of entertainment for everyone.
