Honouring almost 90 years of commitment to the NHS

I had the privilege at our Council meeting on Wednesday, 3 August to recognise the dedication of two long-serving Evesham based paramedics.

Between them Philip Crowther and David Hankins have spent almost 90 years saving lives with the ambulance service.

In April I attended the West Midlands Ambulance Trust Long Service and Excellence Awards, where they both received medals marking over 40 years of service.

David started working for the ambulance service in July 1969 while Philip began his career in October 1975 in London.

I was so inspired by their dedication to duty that I wanted to  formally thank them on behalf of the people of Wychavon by inviting them to the meeting where councillors could show their appreciation.

I presented both of them with special certificates in recognition of their years of service. It is people like David and Philip who make the NHS what it is. Without the exceptional skill, dedication and commitment shown by these two people – and the thousands of others like them up and down the country – the ambulance service would not be able to achieve the high standards of service we have all come to expect.

Also at the same meeting we heard from Lt. Col. Stuart Hitchman TD RA from 11 Signal & West Midlands Brigade, Regional Employer Engagement Team. He spoke to us about the employment of reservists from the West Midlands Reserve Forces.
