Do I have hidden treasure in my attic?

It’s not often I have to wash my wellies to attend a function, but the 33rd Evesham Angling Festival was one of those times as Crown Meadow was rather muddy owing to a rather wet Sunday when the Wychavon awards were being presented.

I was shown around the various angling stalls and was amazed at the ingenuity of the equipment provided for today’s anglers, some of whom are apparently known as Tackle Tarts and of whom it is said “have all the gear but no idea” – there’s competition not only in the size of fish caught.

Some things have changed since my dad went off on a coach with crates of beer and rods with reels, but the enthusiasm has certainly not dimmed and it’s good to see children being taught in this growing sport. After all where else can you legally use a catapult as part of the equipment?

Apparently the couple of rods and reels I have stored in my attic could be collector’s items.
