A moving tribute

I recently attended a Sea Sunday service, albeit in the middle of Pershore at the RNA Club.

This was for the hanging and blessing of plaques on the wall of remembrance for “shipmates who have recently crossed the bar” and who were then toasted with a traditional tot of rum.

The following moving poem was read:

On all the oceans, white caps flow

There are no crosses  row on row;

But you who sleep beneath the sea

Can rest in peace – your country’s free
